Upstream: safe, productive fishing
HACCP-compliant fiberglass vessels, skilled crews, modern fishing gear, and disciplined onboard handling and preservation improve safety, catch quality, and consistency.
Fishing & enterprise model
Kaalmays Marine Institute (KAALMI), a Sommarine subsidiary, connects practical training, productive work, performance-linked income, enterprise development, and a pathway to vessel ownership.
Integrated fisheries value chain
Sommarine connects fishing capacity with the infrastructure, controls, and market access required to protect seafood quality and grow reliable supply.

KAALMI
Training combines safety at sea, vessel operations, fishing gear, catch handling, food hygiene, basic maintenance, teamwork, and commercial discipline.

Guaranteed market
Across all three models, Sommarine purchases the entire catch at prevailing market prices. Under leasing and lease-to-own, agreed payments are made through a portion of the catch rather than cash.
Three-stage pathway
01
KAALMI-trained crews receive 50% of the profits generated by their vessel, directly linking earnings to productivity.
02
Experienced, high-performing teams can lease Sommarine vessels and build independent fishing enterprises.
03
Successful lessees can progress toward vessel ownership without conventional collateral requirements.

Women’s economic participation
Sommarine trains women in fish handling, hygiene, and basic bookkeeping, and provides insulated fish boxes, daily flake ice, and subsidised fish without upfront payment—supporting participation in trading, value addition, and distribution.
