Hulls laid in Somalia
From frame to fitting-out, Sommarine vessels are built end-to-end in our Kismayo workshop — by Somali engineers and tradespeople.

Sommarine Limited builds modern fishing and marine vessels in Kismayo — the first of their kind manufactured domestically in Somalia. Engineered for the Jubaland coast and Somalia's growing blue economy.
MV Dalmar 001 — first modern boat manufactured domestically in Somalia
Ten minutes inside the Kismayo boatyard — the team, the build, and the vessels now serving the Jubaland coast.

Somalia has one of the longest coastlines in Africa — and almost no domestic marine industry to serve it. Sommarine Limited was founded in Kismayo to change that, building modern boats and marine equipment for fishermen, traders and the blue economy of Jubaland.
From hull to helm, every vessel is engineered and assembled by Somali engineers, welders and marine technicians — proof that the country's blue economy can be built at home.
Designed and built by our team in Kismayo, MV Dalmar 001 will operate along the Jubaland coast — supporting fisheries, expanding maritime livelihoods, and strengthening Somalia's blue economy.

A growing team of welders, fabricators, marine engineers and technicians — proving that world-class marine manufacturing belongs in Somalia.
"The first of its kind to be produced within the country — expected to play a significant role in advancing the fisheries sector and strengthening the blue economy."

Through Sommarine and our subsidiary GlobalSom, we design durable, efficient vessels, empower local economies with advanced marine technology and training, and integrate sustainable fishing practices to drive growth and stewardship of marine resources.
Every hull, every refit and every trainee is part of a single mission: create jobs, stimulate the local economy, and promote sustainable fishing practices while keeping safety and the environment at the centre of how we operate.
Beyond vessels, our workshop produces the supporting equipment that keeps a working waterfront running — fiberglass water tanks, hull repairs and refits, all built and finished by the same crew that launched MV Dalmar 001.

Sommarine Limited holds an active Export & Import business licence (Grade A) from the Jubaland Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and our community capacity-building is delivered through Kaalmays Marine Institute (Kaalmi), authorised by the Federal Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs.
Capacity building is core to how Sommarine operates. We deliver vocational training in modern fishing techniques, boat-making and boat operation through Kaalmays Marine Institute (Kaalmi), registered with the Federal Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs (TVET Department).
We build five fibreglass hull sizes (6 m to 24 m), service the fleet over its working life, equip crews with gear and engines, and run operations on Fishery OS — our internal platform for vessels, voyages, catches, inventory, sales and payroll.
