Sommarine designs and builds fibreglass fishing vessels in Kismayo, ranging from 6 m artisanal hulls to 24 m long-range commercial boats. Each is engineered for the conditions our crews actually operate in.
Every Sommarine vessel is built end-to-end at our Kismayo boatyard using durable fibreglass and environmentally conscious practices. Sizes range from artisanal inshore boats to long-range commercial vessels — each tuned for the work it has to do.

Compact and agile. Ideal for small-scale fishing close to the Jubaland coast.
Balanced size and load capacity for cooperatives and family operations.
Stable, roomy hull built for longer fishing trips and cargo runs.
Reinforced for extensive ventures, with the durability and capacity for serious operators.
High-capacity, long-range hull for endurance fishing and regional logistics.
We support our boats — and other operators' boats — for their entire working life. Maintenance, upgrades, gear supply and training are all delivered by the same team that builds the hulls.
Hull, engine and rigging service for our fleet and external clients.
Layout changes, refits and equipment upgrades to match how each crew works.
Nets, lines, accessories and engine parts available to cooperatives.
Boat operation, maintenance and marine industry consultancy.

Sommarine Limited is the manufacturing arm — we design and build the vessels. GlobalSom, our operational subsidiary, runs the fishing activities the boats are made for. The two businesses are vertically integrated, which keeps the fleet busy, the catch consistent, and the boats specified exactly to the work.
Beyond GlobalSom, our boats also serve government agencies, NGOs, research institutions and independent commercial fishing operators across the region.
Sommarine isn't only a builder. The fleet, the workshop and the team generate revenue across the maritime value chain — and the proceeds fund more boats, more training and more capacity along the Jubaland coast.
Catch is harvested by GlobalSom on Sommarine boats and sold to regional and international buyers.
We lease boats to trained cooperatives so local crews can run their own operations from day one.
Successful lessees with a strong track record can purchase the boat under structured terms.
Maintenance and repair services for boats outside our own fleet, lifting fleet-wide reliability on the coast.
Coastal cargo and passenger movement for communities along the Somali coast.
Boats deployed for recreational and tourism use as the sector develops.
Stocked supply of marine engines, components and fishing gear for the local market.
Sharing boat-building, fishing-operation and marine-industry expertise with partners.
Whether you're a cooperative looking to operate one of our vessels, an institution sourcing boats, or a partner exploring the Somali blue economy — we'd like to hear from you.
